Insurance Medicals
The Well specialises in life assurance medical examinations including independent medicals and permanent health insurance screening on behalf of all of the main life assurance companies.
You may have been asked by your life assurance company to complete an insurance medical. This may be for a number of reasons including the type of cover that you have applied for or because of the replies that you have included on your application form.
The medical will be free to you and will generally take about 20 minutes to complete. We are acutely aware of the importance of a fast turnaround in appointments and reporting and for this reason we have the appropriately experienced medical staff, equipment and facilities on-site along with a back-up administration team to ensure that medical reports are returned to the appropriate life assurance company generally within 24 hours.
The medical will start with a medical questionnaire and will be followed by a physical examination and urine test and may also include some or all of the following tests:
- HIV test (test carried out in a laboratory)
- Blood biochemistry including Cholesterol Level, Blood Sugar Level, Liver Function Tests (LFT’s), Kidney Function etc.
- Lung Function test
- Heart assessment – resting ECG
- Stress ECG which will take 40 – 50 minutes to complete. You will be required to exercise on a treadmill. (Shower facilities are available on-site)
