'The Well' works in close partnership with the Beacon Hospital in the provision of this element of our service. We will arrange for the mammogram to be completed immediately following the medical. This service is particularly for those ladies who are not included in Breast Check http://www.breastcheck.ie/ - the national breast screening programme, normally ladies between the ages of 50 - 65

Appointments can be made by using our contact form or by calling a member of our experienced administration team on 01 2945444.
Payments must be made on the day of your medical by credit card, laser card, cash or cheque.
-How long before I receive a copy of the report?
The results of the medical will be explained to you on the day of the medical by your doctor and a complete report will be sent to your designated address 7 working days later.
-How long will the medical take?
The medical will take about three hours to complete.
-How often should I go for an Executive Medical
Our general recommendation is once every two years.
At The Well we believe in practicing evidenced-based medicine. Research to date confirms that there is no benefit in undertaking chest x-rays as a screening test on healthy individuals, including a reduction in deaths from lung cancer. During your medical the doctor will undertake a thorough history, examination, resting ECG and lung function testing and can arrange a chest x-ray on the day if there is any concerns or clinical indication.
At The Well we believe in practicing evidenced-based medicine. Current research indicates that doing routine stress/exercise ECGs on the average patient without symptoms suggestive of heart disease is not beneficial and may do more harm than good. In this population, exercise stress testing may miss up to half of all cases of heart disease and most positive tests end up being false alarms, resulting in unnecessary investigations and anxiety.
-Is it possible to claim some of the cost back through my personal taxes?
Yes it is. You can reclaim a percentage of the cost of your medical expenses back at the end of the year using a Med 1 form. We will give you a Med 1 form on the day of your medical to facilitate this on request only.
-Once I have made an appointment, will I need to do anything to prepare for my medical?
Once you have arranged an appointment, you will receive a confirmation letter/e-mail to confirm the details of your appointment, a short questionnaire that you should complete and bring with you on the day of your medical and a direction map.
-What are the appointment times?
Appointments are available Monday to Friday starting at 7.15am, 8.30am, 10.15am, 11.30am, 1.15pm and 2.15pm
-What happens if something is picked up as part of the medical?
If in the unusual case that something serious is found during your medical, with your permission, we will co-ordinate with your GP to ensure the fastest and best outcome for you. 'The Well' has established relationships with a wide range of specialists, to which we refer our visitors as necessary.
-What if I suffer from diabetes?
Please contact us for further information on 01-2945444 or info@thewell.ie
-What is the waiting period for an appointment?
Depending on your flexibility, it is usually possible to get an appointment within 7 - 10 days and maybe sooner.
-Will a copy of my report be sent to my GP?
At your request, a summary report will be sent to your own GP. This is something that we encourage our visitors to do to ensure continuity of care.
-Will I need to fast for my bloods?
You will need to fast for 12 hours before your medical in order to accurately measure your cholesterol level and blood sugar levels. It is important to drink plenty of water and avoid teas and coffees during this period.
